Composite bonding is a minimally invasive cosmetic dental treatment designed to help address minor, aesthetic imperfections in a smile. These imperfections could include small cracks, chips, and gaps in or between the teeth, leaving the smile more symmetrical and aesthetically pleasing.
In most cases, such issues will not present any clinical issue, but a patient may seek to address them to feel more comfortable when smiling and more confident when taking a photo. We often recommend composite bonding to patients who are also having their teeth straightened, and it can be used in conjunction with several other treatments as the finishing touch in a smile makeover.
This minimally invasive treatment can be applied quickly, producing fast, effective results in just one appointment. We’ll simply apply a tooth-coloured composite resin to the affected tooth or teeth and manipulate and sculpt it into the desired shape. The resin can be shade-matched to your natural teeth, so the finished effect looks completely seamless, although it’s important to note that composite bonding cannot be whitened.
This means if you’re looking to have your teeth whitened, the teeth whitening treatment has to be carried out prior to your composite bonding, and we will then shade match to your new, whiter smile.
