Crowns can be used to restore and repair a damaged tooth, returning full function and producing a beautiful aesthetic finish for the patient.

If you’re living with a broken, damaged, or decayed tooth that is past the point of restoration through the use of a filling, then we may recommend a crown. Crowns are used to help restore full function to broken and damaged teeth and, in some cases, can be used to improve the aesthetic appearance of a tooth.

Receiving a crown usually takes two visits, with a wait of 1-2 weeks between appointments while your crown is being made for you. On your first visit, we’ll take a series of photographs and digital impressions, which will be sent to expert lab technicians, who will then craft your crown. We’ll take everything into consideration, including shade, shape, and size of the tooth in question, so that your new crown fits in seamlessly with the rest of your mouth.

Our skilled team will then prepare the tooth to receive the crown – this usually involves the removal of any decayed or damaged parts of the tooth – and place a temporary crown so that you can continue to eat and speak as normal. When your crown is ready for you, you’ll return to the practice for your second appointment, and we’ll apply it here.

Ive just completed Invisalign treatment with the wonderful Dr Chelsie Rowland at North Down Dental and Implant Centre. Had went to various dentists before but wasn't sure until I attended this practice. All the staff made me feel so comfortable and at ease. A year later I'm finished my treatment and my smile journey. I was referred to North Down Dental as I needed a surgical removal of a tooth. They were quick to get in touch and so reassuring from the first phone call - happy to explain exactly what would happen which was so reassuring as an exceptionally anxious dental patient. Staff were so friendly and lovely, made me feel so at ease straight away and were totally validating and understanding of my anxiety to the point I managed to laugh my way through the experience. Would have no hesitation in recommending anyone to use for any dental surgery and if I had to had surgery again, I would definitely return.Even down to a phone call the day after - makes you feel in such good hands. I toyed with the idea of having two implants as I had no efficient bite on one side of my mouth. My dentist recommended Michael Rowland at North Down Dental so I went along for a consultation. Michael explained the process which would initially entail getting an old root removed which had been left from a previous extraction at my normal dentist.I agreed to proceed and was given a timetable for the work required. After the extraction there was a healing period of two months and then a further four months until the implants were finally put in. I am really pleased with the whole process but more especially the final result.I have to say that North Down Dental is a very slick operation, not just the ambiance, relaxed atmosphere and hygiene but also the staff who are all friendly, welcoming and positive.I found Michael and his assistant Jordan very professional. Michael is very good at what he does.I highly recommend North Down Dental and in fact, following my experience there, my wife will be going to have a consultation soon.

This has been such an amazing and easy journey for me from start to finish. I made the call to enquire about getting composite veneers on my top teeth and within 2 weeks I had my consultation with Micheal and his team. I explained exactly what I wanted and what I didn't like about my natural teeth and smile. We worked together and the picture became very clear as what he could do for me. I had my trial smile done and I was speechless it changed my smile and gave me such a massive confidence boost. A few short weeks after I sat down on the chair and it was transformation time. There was absolutely no pain involved in this process at all, no drilling or filing of my natural teeth at all, some discomfort wearing the mouth guard to keep my mouth open while he literally transformed my smile but that was it. When I seen my finished result I was soo shocked at how much different my teeth and smile were, I cried I was in total shock I absolutely loved them. 1 year later I sat back down with Micheal and his team to transform my bottom teeth and within 1 month of making that call I was back in his chair again. I can honestly say this is one of the best decisions I've ever made. Micheal and his team are fantastic, they are relatable and friendly and want you to have the best possible outcome. Nothing was to much trouble for them and every appointment was explained and layed out very clear as to what was happening next. Big shout out to Morgan his right hand man also as he is just bursting with positive energy and is generally as excited to see the end result as you are and is with you every step of the way. Everyone compliments me on my teeth and to be honest I feel fantastic, they are beautiful and do not look "fake" by any means at all. Very natural but also very stunning. I highly recommend Micheal and his team and I am one very happy customer :)

What an absolute pleasure from start to finish!Went through a full smile rebuild and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made. From the first appointment with Michael , Morgan and all the team I was put at ease and made very welcome. I wasn’t sure what I needed other than I was looking to improve my smile. I am absolutely delighted with my new dental implant and could not praise the staff highly enough at North Down Dental.Dr Rowland made me feel in safe capable hands, which is so important when you are getting dental work, whilst Morgan provided reassurance and ensuring I was OK during procedures.The plan of my dental implant was laid out before any of the work started, along with the cost breakdown and time frames.I attended Dr Michael Rowland privately with a bad infection in an upper Molar which I knew needed to come out. It was a bad infection on a tooth which had a failed historic root canal procedure. Dr Rowland removed the tooth along with all the infection. Unfortunately the infection had already caused damage to my jaw bone which required a bone graft to build the jaw bone back up for the dental implant. Dr Rowland successfully carried all the work out and finally I have my new realistic tooth.Worth every penny for the feeling of being in the best hands, and for the expertise.

Please read this if you are particularly scared of going to the dentist. I had my first molar extraction today with Maeve and after the procedure was finished I genuinely had no words. I was stunned. We were in and out before the hour. Maeve made me laugh, was extremely thorough and confident which put me at immediate ease. She was encouraging throughout and made me feel as best I could be in a situation like that. I want to thank Maeve and everyone we came across today in North Down Dental. I would highly recommend this practice, as an extremely anxious person going to the dentist was always my biggest fear but Micheal, Morgan and the rest of the team honestly couldn’t have been any more helpful throughout my whole experience. I had to get some dental work done & also got composite bonding and everything was amazing.I also had a dental emergency 2 weeks before my wedding and the team got me sorted out right away and made sure my teeth were wedding ready.If you’ve ever thought about making your smile better I would highly recommend coming here!

Absolutely wonderful practice! I was so nervous after a really bad experience with my last dentist at another practice. They put me totally at ease, were so caring and understanding with no judgment of the fact I had left it so long to get my teeth looked at again. I recently had a back tooth removed with long roots, which needed to be separated into different sections for removal. Maeve was very reassuring from the start, explaining the process clearly and in helpful detail. Very happy with my first visit to North Down Implant & orthodontics clinic. I was in a lot of pain from a wisdom tooth but was put at ease immediately on arrival. There was a very friendly and professional atmosphere and Maeve explained everything step by step. The extraction was done in no time and off I went home with aftercare.The next day I received a call from Claire just checking in with me asking how I was feeling, I thought this was lovely and really felt that they cared. Two rear teeth removed by Dentist Maeve. Everything explained very well. Both teeth removed before I was aware. I had two stitches and no pain. The dentist was aware that I take a blood thinner and afterwards I had very little bleeding. This girl is obviously at the top of her profession and I would be very confident with her dental treatment. This is the third day and everything very good. Had to get a procedure done due to having an impacted wisdom tooth. was nervous before hand due to never having any previous experience of having teeth removed, but all the staff ensured I was in good hands and talked me through every step! The procedure ended up being a breeze, I was pretty much in and out, and I'm greatful that I no longer need to deal with any more pain in the future (some tenderness throughout the healing process, but nothing a few pain killers won't help for a couple days) I highly recommend this practice for any dental needs, top professionals.

The dentists and receptionist were so lovely and comforting. Getting a tooth out can be a scary thing but the dentists even put on some relaxing music in the background. Extraction was painless. And Claire was amazing even ringing me the day after to see how I was.

I was treated by Dr Maeve for a fairly severe impacted wisdom tooth that was causing me a lot of problems and required multiple sessions. I couldn't have been happier with the service, all the staff from the Doctor herself to the reception staff were incredibly friendly and reassuring. A member of staff, Claire I believe (apologies if incorrect, I was in a hoop around this time with the tooth!) even rang up after to check how I was getting on and if I had any questions.I can't recommend this clinic enough, really helped me massively. Good luck to anyone needing work in the future and rest assured that you're in good hands!

I finally got my braces off after almost 6 years, and my teeth look amazing. When i started my teeth were all over the place but now they are seriously perfect.Dr. Finlay and Lynn were amazing throughout the whole process. They were always super friendly, made every visit a breeze and were always up for a chat, which made the long journey much easier. Dr Turner has been great with my daughter’s treatment. She’s had amazing results from her temporary braces and has just had her fixed braces on. Michael is a fantastic dentist. He is so patient, calm, professional and careful. I knew I was in safe hands when I met him and he’s been brilliant throughout my treatment. A great team of people from start to finish! My son has been having treatment for almost two years with regards his braces. Mr Armstrong always explains what's happening & my son never complains about going so this can only prove how comfortable he is with the team. Girls at reception are always lovely, friendly & helpful. Nothing is a problem! If you are thinking of visiting here, go for it you won't be disappointed!

We have had a few visits over the last months & each time we arrive the receptionists are polite, acknowledge your arrival and are very helpful. The building itself is modern, very clean and each surgery well signposted. The treatment from the orthodontist was exceptional. He was very patientand explained in detail what he would be doing on this visit and subsequent visits. I thoroughly recommend without hesitation.

During a visit to the orthodontist one of my children (not the one who had an appointment) fainted. Everyone was so good with her and me and also looked after my other 2 children while I sat with my daughter who fainted. They kept us there until they where certain she was ok and rang twice to check in on how she was doing. Thank you all .
